This kitchen was in need of updating; the painted white cabinets had insufficient storage, sagging fixed shelves inside, and the space between the counter and the upper cabinets was only 12”- far too short to even fill the coffee maker. The existing tile floor runs from the front door, right through to the sliding door in the kitchen, and was in great shape, so we decided to keep that.
Choosing the right colours for our materials was important since we were keeping the blue-grey flooring. The client wanted solid wood cabinets and a Canadian manufacturer was chosen to make these wonderful cherry wood cabinets. Special items such as: a pull out garbage can, Lazy Susan in the corner, and pull out pantry shelves are the finishing touches that make this new kitchen work.
The biggest eyesore in the original kitchen was the refridgerator which stuck out about 9” from the cabinets- you had to walk around the large white fridge to enter the kitchen. A counter-depth fridge solved that problem. Beside the fridge is the new “coffee bar” area which the homeowner loves. Solid surface quartz counters are maintenance free, and the new side/slpilt undermount sink with a gooseneck faucet and built in soap dispenser makes washing dishes a pleasure. This is truly a lovely kitchen which is the heart of this home.
